Sunday Visitors

Janet had visits yesterday (Sunday) with Anna and Jim, Joycelyn, John Nicholson and Linda and Scott.

Before dropping by our place, Anna and Jim went over to 555 Robson (TELUS' downtown office) and cleared out Janet's cubicle and desk and brought over three boxes of stuff for Janet to go through. Jim and Janet determined I was not eating enough (apparently no one has noticed I am still running 10 lbs over my ideal target weight) and Jim cooked me up a omelette sandwich, which was delicious. Jim and I reviewed all my tech toys and home networking setup while Janet and Anna went through the boxes of office stuff. Janet was pretty tired by the time Jim and Anna left and slept for a couple of hours.

Jocelyn popped by for a visit at 5:00 pm, followed by John Nicholson at about 6:00. At 7:30 pm Linda and Scott Harrison showed up and Linda and Janet had a good long talk. For those that are following the Janet and Linda "thing" both claim that while they still do not agree on "something" peace has been reached on the subject.

Janet ended her day by once again savouring a slice of double cheese and pepperoni pizza. We had mixed success in getting calories in Janet on Sunday. That unfortunately is how it goes sometimes. Right now its more important that she enjoys what she is eating and drinking than what happens afterwards.

She took a muscle relaxant and went to bed at about 10:00 pm. She woke up about midnight complaining of bad back pain and I gave her a pain killer. She woke up again at about 2:30 am complaining of "nagging" low grade back pain and I administered another muscle relaxant and she more or less slept through until about 9:00 am this morning.

A quick view of the schedule reveals that she has a very busy week. Its starting to look a bit like my work schedule. We all know that Janet loves people and would not be happy without them. That said, I am concerned that she gets enough rest. She needs much more sleep than healthy people right now and rest definitely impacts the quality of her life. As the story above illustrates she doesn't always get a good nights sleep.

Knowing that we are all very concerned about Janet's welfare I am going to ask that visitors plan on no more than a 30 minute visit with Janet, and that we keep group visits to no more than 2 people at a time. Karen's healing circle on Friday is an exception to this.

My parents will be arriving in town on Wednesday and are planning on staying in Vancouver for at least a month. They have always been very close to Janet and want to be close to her at this time.

Janet's sister Marilyn is arriving this morning and will be staying with us for a couple of days. Janet is very close to her sister and its great to have her here to help. I know that her husband Dave and my niece Stephanie will miss her, but her efforts are going to a great cause.

I can't tell you enough how much the emails and support we receive from all of you mean to Janet. I know she feels surrounded by love and light.

Janet I love you!
you are so amazing
The thing that I find the most amazing is when you perform your "running man" dance. Your running man will always be the what i think of when someone asks me if I have ever seen it. I love you looking forward to seeing you.
You're my angel!

Hello Janet and Mark!

I ran into Anna today at an event and she brought me up to speed on how things are going.

I am sending you guys tons of light. I can't even begin to imagine or understand the fight that you are in. I wish you unprecedented strength of all kinds.

I was sharing with Anna about the first time I met you, Janet. Not sure if you remember but I remember it vividly. Carol Borghesi had taken me with her to the Heart and Stroke Foundation office for a meeting of the Executive team. You were there. You were confident, vibrant and gorgeous (AS ALWAYS) and you were an energy force! Anyway I was impressed by your enthusiasm and your resolve. And then we had fun with the Mother Daughter walks, remember? I think that's where I met you too, Mark.

I wanted to let you guys know that we're thinking about you guys. Sending light. And I will think about the good F words we can send :).

Take good care of each other and much love to you both,

Juggy

Well Janet. It appears that you have been holding out on us about your dancing abilities. Now I know you love Motown, but the "Running Man Dance?" Who knew, besides Chanel! I must confess I actually went on-line to find out what it is (you are so hip) and then I ended up in hysterics watching "You Tube." So here are the “F” words that I want to say to you: Fabulous, Faithful, Fashionable, Fearless, Feisty, Feminine, First Class, Funny, Friend Forever and let’s not forget Folk Dancer (aka running man). Ain’t no mountain high enough Janet. Love Hilary

Good morning sweet Janet,
Thank you so much for sharing your laughter, your smile and your tears with us yesterday. We really enjoyed our visit and can't tell you enough how much we admire your strength, courage and class. You are a role model to me and always will be. If my cancer ever returns, I will fight it like you have fought it and I will be stronger mentally because I've seen your strength and courage. I fought hard physiscally, but man was I a weenie emotionally. You've taught me courage, not just in cancer, but in life.

I hope you had a restful night and that you are feeling well enough to enjoy your friends and family today. Thank you for giving us that gift yesterday. Even though you were feeling so ill, your vibrance, caring and joy of life shone through. Wow, I am just amazed by you and so grateful to have so many incredible memories.
I am angry that we cannot keep you with us into your 90's 'cus man you'd be a going concern. I am so sorry - it really isn't fair. But know that I will continue volunteering for the cancer society every year until we find a cure. I will Janet, and I will do it in your honour. You will be my drive. You will continue to make a difference through me, OK.

So enough sad stuff, I'm crying and probably made you cry. But you need to know that although your life will be short, it has been so very meaningful. OK, I'm crying again - stop it Beaner. I'm going to go now and savour some of our fondest memories. They really warm my heart. We sure have had fun over the years! Do you remember the girl's afternoon when Shannie fell into the bathtub while we were putting on make-up. She's so cute! All of the kitchen parties at Stephanie's, playing the spoons and other instruments. Oh, what about when Brad passed out on her living room floor at a party and Simon got out the peanut butter and the dog! And I loved our lunches at the Greek Restaurant. We managed to celebrate any occasion we could think of, didn't we? Coffee and lunch breaks in the cafeteria were always full of colourful conversations too! I believe a few times people beside us actually got up and moved! That would be the boring people.

Oh, one last thing, Patrick found out that Stephanie went to the Dominican Republic on Wednesday for a week so that is why she hadn't returned my calls. She should be back today or tomorrow I guess, so I'm sure you'll hear from her very soon.

Well, I don't want to tucker you out too much. Am I a jabber jaw or what? I hope you have a good day today sweetie. Keep smiling because you have a beautiful one my dear.

Love you lots,

Colleen

Janet, Mark,

I think of you often and of course smiled when I heard you married and cried a little too. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to have met you. Janet I can hear your laugh and see your smile you are always a bright star . With your great style and vivacious personality you always remain in my mind one of the great people I met at TELUS.

I am thinking of you and wishing you love, smiles and peace.
